BOW & ARROW — The Outrageous Adult Comedy Play
Forget everything you think you know about Sherwood Forest.
This isn't Robin Hood. There's no noble hero in green tights riding in to save the day. Instead, meet Bow and Arrow — two loveable, chaotic outlaws who sleep until midday, get stoned, watch "medieval porn" and stumble headfirst into an epic adventure they are spectacularly ill-equipped for.
Set in a raucous, rude and wildly funny reimagining of 14th century Sherwood, Bow & Arrow is an adults-only comedy that throws every convention of the legend straight out of the castle window.

Set in a raucous, rude and wildly funny reimagining of 14th century Sherwood, Bow & Arrow is an adults-only comedy that throws every convention of the legend straight out of the castle window.
The Story
Bow and Arrow are living their best worst lives — behind on their rent, classified as outlaws, and answering to the terrifying Mistress 'The Sheriff' Cage, who rules Sherwood with a literal iron whip and a state-of-the-art dungeon beneath her castle. When the Sheriff tasks them with investigating a mysterious red light deep in Sherwood Forest, everything unravels fast. Arrow vanishes without a trace, snatched by dark figures into the unknown. Bow — armed with a library book she only read to page four — must form a band of unlikely heroes to find him before it's too late.
What follows is a wild ride through Sherwood's seediest corners, darkest forests and most outrageous characters — all building to a finale nobody sees coming.
The Characters
The cast of Bow & Arrow is an absolute gift for any adult theatre company. Bow Scar is sharp, fearless, hilarious and completely unfiltered — one of the most entertaining female leads you'll find in adult comedy theatre. Arrow is her big-hearted, loyal, chaotic best friend — brave in theory, terrified in practice, and utterly devoted to Bow. Together they're electric on stage.
Then there's Friar Tuck — nothing like the monk you remember. Flamboyantly promiscuous, surprisingly wise and always mid-encounter with someone called Gilbert or Harold, he's Bow and Arrow's mentor in the loosest possible sense. Maxwell 'Glorious' Knight arrives to his own entrance music, convinced he's the alpha male of Sherwood, and spends much of the play being magnificently humiliated. Gob — half man, half goblin — is Maxwell's hapless assistant and one of the funniest scene-stealers in the script. Miss Thorn is the Sheriff's dominatrix PA, highly qualified, deeply terrifying and in enormous demand. And Princess Tammi brings royal chaos and unexpected heart to the second act.
At the centre of it all sits Mistress 'The Sheriff' Cage — controlling, ruthless, darkly funny and hiding a secret that will change everything.
Why Produce It?
Bow & Arrow is a dream production for adult amateur theatre groups, comedy nights and fringe companies. With a cast of just 10 — several actors doubling up as nuns, villagers and guards — it's flexible, affordable and endlessly fun to stage. The script is packed with audience-pleasing set pieces, sharp running gags and moments of genuine warmth buried beneath all the filth.
The show opens to a WWE entrance theme and closes with Red Light Spells Danger. In between, it delivers two acts of pure, unapologetic, brilliantly crafted adult comedy that will have your audience howling from the first line to the last.
Who is Bow & Arrow perfect for?
Adult Amateur Dramatic Societies The bread and butter audience for Bow & Arrow. Amateur dramatic groups across the UK are always hunting for scripts that are genuinely funny, easy to cast and guaranteed to fill seats. This ticks every box. A cast of 10 with doubling up roles keeps production costs lean, while the sharp script and outrageous humour does all the heavy lifting for you. Audiences who come expecting a fun night out will leave having experienced something they'll be recommending to everyone they know.
Student & Graduate Theatre Companies Drama schools and university theatre companies looking for something bold, modern and completely unlike anything their audiences have seen before need look no further. Bow & Arrow gives performers the chance to work with genuinely complex comic characters, sharp dialogue and brilliant ensemble chemistry. It's the kind of production that gets noticed.
Corporate & Entertainment Events Adult pantomime and comedy theatre has exploded as a corporate entertainment format. A show this energetic, this funny and this accessible — with no prior theatrical knowledge required from the audience — is perfect for company Christmas parties, charity fundraisers, gala dinners and entertainment evenings where the brief is simply to have the room in stitches.
Pantomime Producers Looking for Something Different Audiences who love adult panto will absolutely love Bow & Arrow. It has all the ingredients — outrageous characters, comic double acts, running gags, audience-pleasing set pieces and a feelgood finale — but with sharper writing and a genuinely surprising story. It's the natural next step for any company that has outgrown traditional panto formats.
Why Bow & Arrow is Box Office gold?
Let's be honest — finding a script that genuinely makes an audience laugh is harder than it looks. Bow & Arrow doesn't just make audiences laugh. It makes them howl.
From the moment the opening voiceover describes 14th century Sherwood as "the pissing about age" to the final curtain dropping on a WWE entrance theme and Red Light Spells Danger, this show never lets up. Every scene is loaded with sharp, brilliantly timed comedy, outrageous characters and the kind of moments that audience members are still quoting in the bar afterwards.
But here's what really makes Bow & Arrow box office gold — it has heart.
Beneath all the chaos, the filth and the outrageous set pieces, there's a genuinely moving story about friendship, found family and belonging. Bow and Arrow's bond is real. The revelation that Bow and the Sheriff are sisters lands because the writing earns it. Audiences don't just laugh — they get invested. And invested audiences come back for the next show, bring their friends and tell everyone they know.
The cast size is a producer's dream. Ten characters, flexible doubling, no enormous ensemble to manage. The staging demands are minimal — this show lives or dies on performance, which means low production costs and high returns. Whether you're playing a 400-seat theatre or a pub function room, Bow & Arrow delivers.
It's also genuinely original. The adult comedy market is flooded with tired formats and recycled ideas. Bow & Arrow is something audiences haven't seen before — a fresh, fearless, brilliantly crafted comedy that stands completely apart from the crowd. That originality is what fills seats, generates press coverage and builds a company's reputation.
In short — audiences will love it, performers will love performing it, and your box office will love you for programming it.
Bow & Arrow isn't just a great script. It's your next sold-out show.
